I was referred to Event Source in January 2014 by one of Cleveland's greatest photographers. The company was seeking to hire its first-ever in-house graphics and marketing professional, and I also happened to be looking for a new opportunity. I interviewed with top management three times and then accepted an 'example project' prior to being hired. The company was a top finalist in a national event industry awards campaign and needed help procuring votes from industry colleagues.
I designed a special card to be handed out to industry professionals at a Las Vegas convention. The card was part of the overall campaign, which included a special web page that I designed that spelled out the complex voting instructions (still available for viewing here). The voter drive campaign was successful and Event Source was recognized as the 2014 Event Rental Company of the Year by Event Solutions Magazine. I was offered the job.
The company also needed to acknowledge its 35th anniversary that year, so I designed a commemorative anniversary logo to work in tandem with its existing logo.
I designed the circular emblem to the left of the company's existing logo. I drew the logo in Illustrator to allow for complete control and scalability. The same vector file was eventually used to produce enamel lapel pins that looked identical to the logo.
This is the voter drive campaign card that was part of the campaign that helped Event Source win '2014 Event Rental Company of the Year' by Event Solutions Magazine.
This is a typical welcome image that I designed for use on the display monitor in the company's showroom when inside sales reps were expecting clients or guests.
This is a design rendering to demonstrate how to improve the customer's experience while visiting the will-call sales room.
The company often traded advertising in exchange for free rentals of furniture for charity and academic events. This was an ad for an event for Flashes of Hope, a Cleveland-based non-profit that raises money for children with cancer.
The charity photographs children who are diagnosed with cancer in order to preserve special images for their loved ones. As a cancer survivor myself, I was really proud to work with this group.
The sales manager told me that he needed a full-page ad for their program and that I had a two-hour window. The event's theme was 'Kennedy-era 1960s'. I used a catalog image of the exact chair that would be at the event and added an early 1960s SLR camera image to honor the theme.
This is a typical 'sell sheet' for the sales team. The sales reps visit their clients, who may range from event planners to caterers, and event venue managers. The sheets are letter-sized and are produced in-house and are meant to be used as leave-behinds.
The company wanted to quickly improve rentals for a new line of flatware, but there were no high-resolution photos of the pieces available. Due to the tight deadline from the sales manager (later that afternoon), my only choice was to have some pulled from inventory so that I could 'draw' them using Photoshop.
This is the outside of a tri-fold brochure/mailer to introduce the company's sales reps to new event industry prospects. This particular brochure featured 'Suzanne' of the Detroit market. I had to art direct from the Cleveland office, so although I asked for her local photographer to shoot her with an iconic Detroit landmark in the background, I didn't receive what I was looking for. I removed her image from another shot and found a stock photo of signage outside Comerica Park to add her to get the shot I needed.
I created this and all other pieces alone, including writing the copy.

This was a double truck ad for 'Today's Bride' magazine.
Event Source is a founding member of the Cleveland chapter of ILEA (International Live Events Association). It was formerly known as ISES. I was asked to name, design, and produce all visual communications for an event to be hosted at Event Source. I came up with 'The After Work Wine Down', a wine tasting event and tour of the facility for other Cleveland-area event professionals. This is a sign panel that I designed to welcome guests.
